Summer is upon us! With the warmer weather, school being out, and events happening nearly daily, it can be hard to stick with writing goals.
We asked some of our members what their best summer tips are for keeping to their goals:
Sunlight can often make people more energized, so head outside to write
Don’t get caught up in constantly making plans and being busy; schedule time to write, too
If you’re on vacation, at an event with some downtime (kid’s events? waiting at a concert, or for friends in a parking lot), write on your phone
Also, going on vacation? Plane rides can be a great time to catch up on writing time too
Busy in the middle of the day? Set aside time in the early morning or just before bed to get some writing time in
Beach reads are fun and easy to read, and they can be inspirational, too. Pick one up, get lost in a quick, fun story, and maybe you’ll create your own as well!
Hopefully, these tips will help you stay on track this summer. Of course, having a group of writing friends you plan to spend time with each week, writing or editing, can help a lot, too.
Journey Collab
We love collaboration between Writing Journey members! Gertrude Daly was recently a guest on Nikki Green’s Podcast, “Stand Up and Stand Out.” Episode 77 is titled, “From Royals to Writing: Exploring Resilience and Creativity.” The pair talks about royalty, plain English, and the writing process.
The Writing Journey anthologies “Denizens of the Deep” and “The Spaces in Between” get a special mention in the episode.

Delightful suggestions. I usually get my novels from the library. This year I got 4 paperbacks from the Cornerstone used book store in Villa Park for at the pool reading at our new condo. Also got Sam's book in paperback for a summer read.
